Recently I discovered the Tilda range of fabrics and patterns. I bought several of her books and fabrics and started making some of the dolls in her books. I use the term doll loosely as figures is probably more accurate. I made a Santa for my sister for Christmas and an angel for my Mum. After that I was hooked. They are not difficult to make and the fabrics are gorgeous. I am hoping to have them for sale shortly and to run some classes based on her patterns. Etsy Shop

Greetings,

I am just in the process of setting up an Etsy shop at http://www.etsy.com/shop/pinkwheelbarrow

I plan to use this to sell my Blossomwood Farm patterns and various handmade items.

I am currently working on a dragonfly quilt that I am stitching by hand as I keep running out of hand sewing. It is basically a large log cabin with a very large dragonfly appliqued over the top. I will post photos when I finish. I am also trying to finish a ball quilt for my youngest grandson who loves to play with any bat and ball (or trains). Am also planning to redo my hallway and bathroom floors with lino tiles myself. I have ripped up the carpet and my oldest grandson is helping me prepare the concrete surface.

The weeds and grass on Blossomwood Farm are taking over thanks to all the rain we have had but it is very nice to have plenty of water. The grandkids have been having a lot of fun in the dam this Summer with little boats and a swinging rope. There also seem to be more birds around this year.

Blossomwood Farm

Greetings,

Its a long time since I wrote a post as I have been very busy helping family members cope with illness. My stepmum is battling cancer and we are taking part in the Relay For Life in Frankston on the 23rd October. We are called Team Sue and are one of the biggest fund raisers. Thanks to all the people who became involved.

On the farm our dams are both full for the first time since we moved here 5 years ago. Our tanks are also overflowing thanks to all the rain. The kids love jumping in the puddles and riding their bikes through the mud. Baby chicks are being born and my daughter will soon have chooks for sale. You can contact her on 0409117326. My magnificent  blossom tree is in bloom and is really stunning.

We have closed our stall at the Mornington Antique Centre as it is being demolished. They hope to reopen in a new location in the near future and we plan to be part of that.

I am currently trying to finish a ball quilt for little Archie who loves anything to do with bats and balls. Unfortunately I have not had a lot of time to sew recently.

Red Hill Show Winners

Greetings,

As I explained in a previous post my grandchildren have made their stitcheries into cushions which were entered into the Red Hill Show where they they both won first prize ribbons. They used sewing machines to stitch the cushions together and are really proud of their achievements. They were very excited. They also won ribbons for a sock puppet, jam and fruit scones. We had a terrific day at the show and my clever daughter won several prize ribbons as well.

Balnarring Market Saturday 20th February

Just wanted to remind everyone that the Balnarring market is on this Saturday 20th February. It is a terrific market set among the trees at the Balnarring Racecourse in Coolart Road Balnarring. There is plenty of parking and lots of yummy food. My stall is under the veranda of the TAB building. If you mention this blog you will get a 10% discount on your purchases. I will have quite a few items at reduced prices to make way for new stock. So come aong and grab a bargain. The market runs from 8am to 1 pm.

After the market you could drive over to Mornington to the Mornington Antique Centre in Mornington-Tyabb Road. Here you will find lots of stalls including ours at site B8. Just look for the pink wheelbarrow.

Kids Love To Stitch Too

Greetings,

During a recent trip to Geelong with my daughter and grandchildren, I provided the two older children with a simple stitchery to do. They took to it with amazing enthusiasm and we spent several afternoons sitting around and stitching. They needed help threading needles etc but were able to handle the backstitch remarkably well. Now back home we are in the process of turning their stitcheries into cushions. I am doing the cutting but they are doing the sewing on the machine. I gave my nine year old granddaughter a full sized adult machine for Christmas and she has mastered it with ease. She loves to practise using the various different stitches and has already made three cushions for family members. 

I plan to produce patterns for some simple stitcheries for children and will put them on this website when done. However they can also just use a simple drawing of their own like my 11 year old grandson did. He had a terrific drawing of a penguin so he used that for his stitcheries. I'll also publish photos of their finished cushions. They are very proud of their achievements.

I highly recommend doing something like this with children as it is an excellent skill for them to learn and a pleasant activity to share with them. As a primary school teacher I always do sewing in my classroom and have been know to have big year 6 boys coming to a lunchtime class with great enthusiasm.

Christmas Is Coming

I can't believe it is already November. I recently did a party in Cranbourne South( thanks to Madelaine) and many of the guests were buying gifts ready for Christmas. I thought they were very well organised. I was also pleased to see that all of them also bought something for themselves. I like to think that my large range and affordable prices make it possible for people to buy sveral items comfortably. We have expanded our stall at the Mornington Antique Centre in Mornington-Tyabb Road Mornington. We have a large range of fantastic gift items as can be seen in the photos. It is open 7 days a week from 10 to 5 so call in and do some Christmas shopping. Our stall is in the 3rd row at the back, just look for the pink wheelbarrow.

Mornington Antique Centre

Thought it was about time I did a new entry. It looks like Winter is over and the blossom is coming out. I recently took a stall at the Mornington Antique Centre in Mornington-Tyabb Road, Mornington. It has a selection of shabby chic and French provincial items as well as things for kids. It is a fantastic centre and well worth a visit. I am stall B8, its easy to find, just look for the pink wheelbarrow.

I have also done a couple of trade nights for schools and pre-schools recently. Congratulaions to the girls that organise these fund raisers. Everyone seemed to be having a good time and it is an excellent opportunity for traders to promote themselves.

The Balnarring Market starts again on the 17th October wher I will again be taking a stall.

Now is the time of year we start thinking about Christmas. A great way to do your Christmas shopping is to have a Pink Wheelbarrow party and shop in the comfort of your own home. I have a very busy week coming up with our whole school production being performed. I teach at Tyabb Railway Station Primary School. We are a small school in Tyabb where all the staff know all the students. We offer an extensive curricullum including performing arts and ICT.

Red Hill Show and Balnarring Easter Market

Greetings,

I recently took part in the Red Hill Show and had great fun entering a number of craft items. I am pleased to say that I received a first prize for my Sir Darcy's Dragon Lair cushion and a second for the Heart of Hearts cushion. The patterns for these prize winning european sized cushions are available for $10 each plus postage. See the Blossomwood Farm Designs Photo Album.

Our farm is beginning to look green again after a bit of rain and we had great excitement with the birth of 16 piglets. They are very cute and their 2 mothers are taking good care of them. We love to sit and watch them play.

I will be at the Balnarring Market this Easter Saturday which is the last one until October. I have some terrific Easter gifts such as Growing Dinosaur, Chicken or Crocodile eggs wrapped up with a chocolate egg. Also some very cute sheep egg cups as well as various china items all wrapped up ready to give.

It promises to be a terrific market with lots of fantastic stalls. I hope to see you there.
